Specific Job Duties: Will have a recognized certification in both germination and purity analysis. Monitor work, train and assist other employees wishing to obtain certification in seed analysis. Monitor work and train students to assist with purity or germination analysis. Assist in sample preparation. Perform seed identification. Share the responsibilities of preparing samples and completing the TZs tests. Perform seed germination and purity analysis. Enter data into Pure Harvest system. Check Pure Harvest reports and confirm billing information is correct monthly. Make stop sale decisions if necessary and report to Colorado Department of Agriculture. To be a team member that shares responsibilities of maintenance, cleanliness and general order of the seed lab. Maintain and update lab herbariums. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse clientele and provide excellent customer service.
General Job Description: This position will be part of a team of analysts that are responsible for seed analysis within the Colorado Seed Laboratory. This position will work with all aspects of seed testing. The position will enter samples on the lab computer system, and must be able to divide, weigh, and otherwise prepare samples for testing. This position will conduct seed purity analysis and must perform seed identification, planting, evaluating, and reporting of test results. This position will maintain and update the lab seed herbariums. This position will provide excellent quality customer service to all customers by performing work in a timely manner by responding to their issues, concerns, promptly and professionally. Coordinates and completes inspection samples for the agreement with the Colorado Department of Agriculture. All testing will be completed in accordance with AOSA Rules for Testing Seeds and the supporting handbooks. Additional duties may be assigned if needed or required.
Required Qualifications: Experience in conducting Seed analysis for Purity and Germination according to AOSA rules in a seed laboratory Knowledge and understanding of AOSA seed testing rules Be a Certified Seed Analyst/Registered Seed Technologist or in the process of obtaining formal certification with AOSA/SCST within 12 months Bachelors degree in a closely related area of study to this position or 4 years commensurate experience in addition to the above certifications
Desired Qualifications: Supervisory experience Three years professional experience relevant to the job duties and or a Masters degree in a closely related area of study to this position Experience in evaluating a broad range of plant species including seed of native species and flowers Experience in weed seed identification Experience in updating and maintaining a seed herbarium Knowledge of seed production and seed conditioning practices Experience working with diverse clientele and providing exceptional customer service Experience working with Pure Harvest software+
