Each year, we celebrate the teaching, research, and service achievements of Colorado State University students, alumni and friends, academic faculty, administrative professionals, and classified staff.

The top University awards were announced at the Celebrate Colorado State! Luncheon. All award winners and honorees were recognized in a special publication.

N. LeRoy Poff and Tomislav Rovis, two of Colorado State University's leading researchers and educators, were named the 2005 Monfort Professors at the annual Celebrate Colorado State! luncheon on April 21. The awards, established through a gift from the Monfort Family Foundation to help recruit and retain top-quality faculty, are among the university's top honors. All eight colleges at the university were involved in the nomination and selection process for the Monfort Professors.

Scholarship Impact Award Presented to David Randall

Dr. David Randall, who joined Colorado State in 1988 after spending nearly a decade working at the NASA/Goddard Flight Space Center, is known internationally for his contributions to the understanding of global atmospheric circulation and the use of computers to model the Earth's climate. Randall's work is strongly supported by federal agencies, and over the past nine years, his research expenditures have been between $1.3 million and $1.9 million each year.

Graeme Stephens Named University Distinguished Professor

Atmospheric science Professor Graeme Stephens was named a University Distinguished Professor at a special ceremony during the annual Celebrate Colorado State! luncheon. President Larry Edward Penley conferred the honor, a distinction reserved for only 12 faculty members who have achieved national and international prominence in their academic careers.

Stephens is an internationally known researcher who has made ground-breaking contributions in many aspects of atmospheric science, including leading an innovative NASA mission to launch a satellite that will provide new information about clouds and climate change.
