Bohemian Foundation Gift Supports Renovation of Hughes Stadium

On May 14, 2003, the Bohemian Foundation gave more than $20 million to Colorado State University - the largest ever cash gift to the university - to support the university's highest academic and athletic capital priorities [press release].
The gift included a $4.9 million commitment to the University Center for the Arts and a $15.2 million commitment for the renovation of Hughes Stadium, a project which includes the naming of the playing field at Hughes Stadium for football coach Sonny Lubick.
The entire expansion and renovation project at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium included:
- a new artificial surface practice field south of Moby Arena;
- two new scoreboards and one new state-of-the-art video board on the south side of the stadium;
- an 18 percent increase in capacity at the stadium with the installation of permanent seats in the north end zone;
- major enhancements to the Rams’ Horn club-level seating area and press box level; and
- the addition luxury suites available to major donors which include catered food service and upgraded seating.
Two of the most respected names in sports facility design and architecture coordinated the project, Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK), one of the world's leading providers of design services, and the state of Colorado's architectural firm of the year, Aller-Lingle Architects P.C. of Fort Collins.
