But most children, especially young children, need to be taught why, when and how to practice good hand hygiene. GOJO developed the Healthy Hands, Healthy Kids program to encourage better health through hand hygiene in schools. Every lesson plan, project and activity is linked to at least one performance indicator in the new National Health Standards and is enriched with extensions to other disciplines, including science, mathematics, language arts, music, social skills, and physical education. The program features two age-appropriate volumes-preschool through grade 2 and grades 3 through 6. Each volume contains the following:
The program is free to qualifying schools. To find out if your school is eligible, contact Chuck Vanryswyk at (303) 369-9493 or leave a message at 1-800-321-9647 ext. 8847. If you are calling from a state other than Colorado, contact Lisa Calderwood at 1-800-321-9647 ext. 6665. Additional information about the program can be found on the following web site: www.healthyhands.com. Note that this program is free but requires the purchase of GOJO products to fill the dispensers provided for the students. Food Safety Education Kit for PhysiciansIn response to the growing problem of foodborne illness, the CDC, FDA, USDA, along with the Partnership for Food Safety Education and the American Medical Association have developed a new information kit to educate both physicians and their patients about food safety. This is the first foodborne illness primer ever released for physicians and other health care professionals. "Physicians and other health care professionals often overlook food safety issues when talking to their patients," says Melanie Miller, Executive Director of the Partnership. The materials can be viewed at the American Medical Association's website at www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/3629.html or a free copy of the primer is available to physicians and other health care professionals by emailing litjen_tan@ama-assn.org. Provide your name, shipping address, and a contact telephone number. Playing it Safe with Eggs --
