Purpose

Build competencies and expand resources so that parents can and will take primary responsibility for meeting their children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs and providing moral guidance and direction; families can and will promote positive, productive, and contributing lives for all family members; and internal and external community assets will be strengthened.

Audience to be served

Parents and families, at least 50% of whom have household incomes below the poverty level. The target audience is parents and families.

Program

DTBY was selected as the initial program delivery curriculum because it is based on the theory of self-efficacy and is grounded in the premise that community, staff and recipients (parents and families) are all crucial elements of the entire process of prevention and intervention around community issues. DARE to be You is a research-based award-winning curriculum that can be used to enhance existing programs or build new programs. www.coopext.colostate.edu/DTBY/index.html
