Project

San Luis Valley (SLV) Cooperative for  Family Literacy Services provides families with opportunities to learn, grow, and acquire self-sufficient skills.

The vision is to provide opportunities for families to enhance their skills and knowledge and to access resources that lead to lifelong learning and quality of life in a caring community setting.

The mission is to develop a San Luis Valley network of Family Learning Centers which provide access to comprehensive services so all families might meet everyday life with success.

Goals

  1. Establish a network of Family Literacy Centers in the San Luis Valley: Alamosa, San Luis, and Monte Vista.
  2. Identify, define, and provide opportunities for all families to enhance their knowledge and skills to meet their individual family needs.
  3. Empower families by providing information about opportunities to access life skill programs, agency services, and educational resources.
  4. Families will meet everyday life with success.

Special Programs

Open Houses   Parents and young children are invited to come join the fun -- storytelling, music, games, and snacks.  Learn about Even Start - La Llave, the family literacy center.   Informal programs every month at each site.

Moving in Harmony   Preschoolers and their parents join together for pre-reading and pre-math while utilizing movement to music, colors, shapes, and story telling.
