SERVICE PROJECTS

An annual POW/MIA ceremony is orchestrated by Arnold Air Society on Colorado State University’s campus each Fall. This year we had Retired Brigadier General Wayne Schultz as a guest speaker. Brig. General Schultz spoke of his experiences with POWs throughout his career. We got publicity locally and even in Denver, hoping to impress the importance of this subject on our community. |

An annual favorite of the MGD squadron is the biannual Highway Clean-Up. We clean a 2 mile stretch of I-25, and involve members of Silver Wings and cadets from Detachment 090. Det 090 has won best detachment in the region (High Flight Award), as well as best large detachment in the nation (Right of Line Award)!! |

Other Projects |
| Lt. Lacy Memorial Run: 24-hr Memorial Run honoring Lt. Michael Lacy, USAF, who died in a motorcycle accident while stationed in Italy. Donations earned from the run support the Lt. Lacy Scholarship which goes to an outstanding AFROTC cadet. |
| Valentines For Vets: Along with the Danielson Silver Wings Chapter and cadets from AFROTC Det 090, Valentines are personally delivered annually to the VA Hospital in Cheyenne, WY. |
| Joint National Project: The Joint National Project (JNP) is the main focus of AAS and SW every year. It is voted on at NATCON each year to determine the main project that the organizations will focus on! |
| POW/MIA Table: The MGD Squadron performs the POW/MIA Table ceremony at all AFROTC Dining-ins and -outs. This ceremony is to honor our POWs and MIAs. |
| ARCON: ARCON (Area Conclave) is an annual event held in the Fall of each year. It is a Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings convention for all of the local states (from Utah to Nebraska!). The Captain Mark Giles Danielson Squadron will be attending ARCON at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs this Fall. |
| NATCON: In addition to ARCON, there is also the National Conclave (NATCON), held Easter Weekend of every year. During this time cadets from all over the nation convene to take care of business for AAS. The 2008 NATCON (CHI-CON) was in Chicago, IL. The upcoming year's NATCON (Fiesta-Con) will be in Pheonix, AZ. |
| Training: MGD Squadron offers training for new actives in the Spring of every year. The most recent active class included 10 new members to the Arnold Air Society. |
