Drum Group Rules
Welcome to the Colorado State University Native American Student Association 23rd Annual Powwow. We hope that you have a wonderful time. The following are rules that we need you to follow as a participant and competitor. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Drum registration will close 30 minutes before each grand entry and open when grand entry is over.

Drum groups must set up at the location assigned to them by the Arena Director and set up in the same location each session.
- To answer drum roll call and qualify for payment, at least 2 singers and the drum must be present.
- Song lengths will be limited as follows: Intertribals – 6 pushups; Contests – 4 pushups; and Grand Entry – 4 pushups.
- Drum rotation will be clockwise for intertribals and counter-clockwise for contest songs. EXCEPTION: Northern drums for northern contest categories and Southern drums for southern contest categories.
- Any singers suspected of alcohol/drug use, exhibiting inappropriate behavior, or not complying with the above by the Arena Director or Committee will cause the drum group to be disqualified for that session and will not receive payment. They will also be asked to leave the premises.
- By registering, you are giving the Native American Student Association and Colorado State University permission to use your photo/image/songs as part of their public relations material.

Drum Contest
- Registration for the drum contest will close at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 16th, 2005.
- Points will be given for attendance in the drum roll calls and contest participation. Drum groups will be judged on the following:
- cleanliness of drum area
- appropriateness of song choice
- motivation of dancers
- lead strength
- harmony of group
- Drum groups in the contest will not qualify for session payouts.
