Labs: Technology in the Department

The department shares the most up-to-date communications technologies with students. Whether they use cameras and editing consoles in videography courses or publication design equipment in print courses, students gain familiarity with state-of-the-art tools of communication.

The department features several computer labs equipped with software currently being used by industry and government. Among applications available are Microsoft Office, PhotoShop, Dreamweaver, PageMaker, Framemaker, WordPerfect, Adobe Acrobat, and Quark.

Students have access to a Banyan Vines network that connects to data bases. Scanners, laser printers and other peripherals are also available to students.

Students majoring in electronic reporting produce scripts and tapes using a wide range of field, video editing, and studio equipment. The Desktop Video Editing equipment with digital video effects offers production capability using Final Cut Pro.

The department also houses a state-of-the-art communication research laboratory for use by students and faculty for various projects.
