Curriculum Vitae

RANK:

Professor Emeritus

DATE OF APPOINTMENT:

1981 and 1998

EDUCATION:

Ph.D. 1966 Purdue University - Plant Breeding and Genetics
M.S. 1965 Purdue University - Plant Breeding and Genetics
B.S. 1962 North Dakota State University - Agronomy/Crop Science

AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Professional experience includes involvement in plant breeding and genetics for 40+ years. Experience includes research on important insects of sorghum in India during 1966-69. While on the faculty at North Dakota State University for 12 years, ten durum wheat cultivars and five germplasm lines were developed and released. Accomplishments included the first semidwarf and the first strong gluten cultivars developed for the major durum region of the USA. Research at Colorado State University since 1981 has resulted in the release of ten new wheat cultivars, Hail, Carson, Blanca, Lamar, Yuma, Jules, Fairview, Sylvan, Akron, Halt, Yumar, Prowers, Prairie Red, Prowers 99, Ankor, several new cultivars with Dr. Haley, and one Russian wheat aphid-resistant germplasm, CORWA1.
Breeding and genetic emphasis has been on environmental stresses for dryland wh October 1, 2007 at stress, root rot resistance, and Russian wheat aphid resistance. International experience includes consulting and study leaves in Australia, Canada, China, England, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Spain, and Russia. Editing the Annual Wheat Newsletter for 12 years provided contact with about 500 wheat workers worldwide.
