In
an effort to encourage conservation in Federal Heights, the City Manager
is imposing "Voluntary Watering Restrictions" within the City effective
May 1, 2004. This action will continue until further notice. As defined within
the Stage 1 Outdoor Watering Guide adopted in 2003, the following "Voluntary
Restrictions" will apply:
• Limit outdoor watering of grass, trees and shrubs to 2 days per week
•
Avoid outdoor watering between the daytime hours of 9 am and 6 pm
•
Delay installation of new lawn and landscape
•
Avoid washing impervious surfaces such as sidewalks, driveways, roof tops
•
Limit car washing, and use bucket of soapy water, rinsing with automatic shut
off hose nozzle
•
Limit high pressure power washing to health and safety issues
Although non-compliance with the voluntary restrictions will not be penalized at this time, the City strongly encourages water conservation. Again as outlined in the Outdoor Watering Guide, water wasting, such as excessive irrigation runoff, failure to repair leaking pipes/hoses, or letting water run from an unattended hose or faucet carries progressive monetary penalties.
Remember to use water wisely!
