Section 18 of FIFRA authorizes the EPA to allow States to use a pesticide for a limited time if EPA determines that emergency conditions exist. The uses are requested for a limited period of time, to address the emergency situation only. Section 18 Labels are restricted use pesticides for retail sale to and use only by certified applicators or persons under their direct supervision. The label must be in the possession of the user at the time of pesticide application. A permit is required from the Colorado Department of Agriculture in order to use a Section 18 product. There is no charge for this permit.
