SERVICES and POLICIES

Support services fall into three categories: accommodations, awareness, and advocacy. These three service areas relate to, and complement, one another to help lessen the negative effects that limitations or disabilities may have on students in an academic environment. Services offered directly by RDS are free to any enrolled student. Other support available to students on campus may or may not have a fee attached (e.g., close in parking or tutoring).

While the primary focus of the office is ensure non-discrimination through support to students with disabilities and to facilitate their pursuit of their academic goals, in reality the services offered by RDS are provided on behalf of, and to, the entire Colorado State University community. Each service area often requires staff to coordinate and collaborate with other university units and personnel in the process of implementing support to students. In addition, RDS acts as a resource for the entire campus community in fulfilling the university's overall commitment to equal access and non-discrimination policies and procedures.

Specific policies related to the services for accommodations are available for each specific service. For a direct link, click on any of the following: Alternative Testing, Alternative Text, Notetaking Support, Interpreting, Transportation.
