1Registration for Fall 2012 is this month!
Registration begins… (see your date to left)

There are currently no advising codes for Psychology students. However, we recommend that you see your advisor once a semester. Vicki, Heather, and Cassidy are here to assist. Please call (970) 491-3799 or stop by room 201 of the Behavioral Sciences Building, Monday – Friday 7:45 - 4:45, to schedule an appointment.

Need Advising Over the Summer? No problem! Your advisor is available over email or by appointment.
2Automated Waitlist on RAMweb you try to register for a class and it’s full, sign up for the class waitlist. Type the course CRN into your registration page. You’ll receive an error message saying the class is full, but there’ll be a drop down action menu you can use to get on the waitlist. Also, before you drop a class for another one, make sure the class you want is open, meaning there is no one waitlisted.

Math Placement – Do you need to take/retake the Math Placement Exam or the Entry-Level Mathematics (ELM) Tutorial and Prerequisite Exam so that you can register to take math in fall? If so, don’t forget that both exams are given on a "walk-in" basis (when classes are in session) in the PACe Testing Center (Weber 138). Bring a pencil or pen, and your RamCard (CSU ID card) with you. PACe Center hours of operation can be found online at http://www.math.colostate.edu/placement/MPE_schedule.shtml. The last day to take the exam this semester is May 4th.

Composition Placement/Challenge Examination Dates – Still need to take CO 150? Before you register, you need to take the placement exam! Proctored test session dates are below. You don't need to sign up for a test session, just show up with a pen and a photo ID. It's best to show up 10-15 minutes early--testing will begin promptly!! A $22 fee will be charged to your student account.

COMMON REGISTRATION ERRORS

Below you will find a list of common registration errors, what they mean, and what to do if you come across this error when registering. Check it out in case you get any of these error messages when registering.

Error message

What it means

When you might get it

What to do

Class level

Only students in a certain class level (fr/so or jr/sr) can register for a given course.

PSY 292 is restricted to freshmen and sophomores; PSY 401 is restricted to juniors and seniors.

If you NEED the course, contact your advisor to request access (for PSY courses) or the home department for access (for other prefixes).

Additional Component Required

In addition to the lecture, you have to register for another component (lab or recitation) at the same time.

LIFE 102, CS 110, ECON 202 and CHEM 111 are examples commonly associated with this error.

Check boxes for each component PRIOR to hitting “register”. Clicking on the CRN for the lecture will tell you if there are specific sections of lab/recitation that must be selected.

Major

You don’t have the “right” major for a class.

Some classes are restricted just to students in that major (business is an example); other classes allow non-majors to register after a certain date (HDFS 302 is an example).

Click on the CRN for details about major restriction—if the class opens to non-majors at a certain date, it will tell you there.

Prerequisite

You fail to meet at least one prereq for the class.

PSY 452 is an example. It requires PSY 252 as a prerequisite.

You’ll need to take the prerequisite courses prior to registering for the course in question. If you think this is an error, contact your advisor.

Dept/Instructor approval

Registration for a certain class is limited and only approved on a case-by-case basis.

An example is PSY 496 (Undergraduate Research) or PSY 488 (Field Placement); both require specific permission from the Psychology Office

If you seek access to a class requiring department/instructor approval, contact the instructor listed, the department (if not PSY) or your advisor.

Stop enrollment

A department has stopped enrollment so that no one can register for the class until a problem is resolved.

Hard to say—stop enrollments can happen in any department due to unforeseen changes.

Try registering for a different section of the same class, or contact the department to find out more information.
