The Department of Psychology is housed in the Andrew C. Clark building, which is centrally located on campus and is immediately adjacent to the Morgan Library and the Lory Student Center. The Department occupies over 100,000 square feet of research, laboratory, instructional and office space within the Clark building. Following is a brief description of some of the laboratories and equipment available to faculty and students in the Cognitive Psychology Program:
Driving Simulator Facility: We recently set up a new driving simulator facility equipped with a research grade driving simulator. This simulator includes the full front seat compartment of an actual Ford automobile, complete with standard controls and functioning instrumentation. The system also includes tactile and proprioceptive feedback, surround sound, and high resolution wrap-around graphics.
Electrophysiology Facility: We also have a newly renovated, state-of-the art EEG/ERP facility. This facility houses two EEG systems, with a control area and two separate subject-running rooms. The newest system is a 128 channel Electrical Geodesic system that supports source localization and uses a proprietary technology that allows the cap to be applied and tested in just ten minutes.
The cognitive psychology research laboratories are housed in a common location adjacent to the behavioral neuroscience laboratories. All of these research laboratories are conveniently located in the same area as faculty and student offices for the Cognitive Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience Programs.
