Research and selected papers:

Crosby's interests focus on metaphysics, American pragmatism, philosophy of nature, existentialism, and philosophy of religion. His books are Horace Bushnell's Theory of Language (1975), Interpretive Theories of Religion (1981), The Specter of the Absurd: Sources and Criticisms of Modern Nihilism (1988), A Religion of Nature (2002), Novelty (2005), and Living with Ambiguity: Religious Naturalism and the Menace of Evil (forthcoming in 2008), as well as three co-edited volumes. He enjoys playing racquet ball and swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, as well as teaching on occasion in the philosophy department of Florida State University.
