SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR PHILOSOPHY MAJORS

Scholarships:
1) Robert Zoellner Undergraduate scholarship:
Up to four $2500 scholarships can be given each year. Criteria for the Zoellner are a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, and other meritorious aspects of the student’s record will be considered. Other things being equal, preference will be given to students who have not received a Zoellner award in the past.2) Jose Ortega Y Gassett Scholarship:
$1000 available for philosophy majors with a demonstrated interest in and understanding of Hispanic culture. Applicants must provide a written explanation (of about 250 words in length) of the type of involvement and/or interest you have in Hispanic culture. Written explanations must be submitted by email to cla_scholarship@colostae.edu with the subject line “Ortega”.3) Dr. Alfred R. Westfall Memorial Scholarship:
This scholarship is made possible by contributions from friends, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Westfall family. Applicants must be a junior majoring in English, Foreign Languages and Literatures, Philosophy, Speech Communication, Theatre Arts, or Journalism and Technical Communication who has completed at least 60 credits at the time of application. Applicant must demonstrate excellence in scholarship or creative activity and unusual potential for achievement.Submissions for the Undergraduate Outstanding Paper Award must be turned in by March 2nd, 2009, 4pm. No on-online application needed.
4) Outstanding Undergraduate Paper Awards:
Up to two awards (TBA) will be given to philosophy majors who have written papers for a philosophy class (CSU). Papers submitted will have been graded and deemed worthy of revision by the professor that originally assigned the paper. For further details regarding this award see Dr. Archie, 228 Eddy (Philosophy Department).With the exception of the Outstanding Paper Awards, applicants interested in any or all of the above scholarships must complete the on-line scholarship application. The applications are accessed from RAMweb at http://ramweb.colostate.edu. Login using your eID.
