About
the CSU Marching Band

The Colorado State University Marching band
began its song in 1901 with 13 members, and has only become
louder, stronger and more impressive. Last year, the band was
220 members strong and is still growing, making it the largest
college band in all of Colorado! Under the incredible direction
of Dr. J. Steven Moore, the band prides itself on being a
single unit that moves and works together like a machine,
with precise movements and phenomenal sound. The CSUMB practices
marching basics throughout the entire year to keep the members
constantly on their toes. This band represents each of the
8 different colleges at Colorado State; non-music majors make
up 75% of the band, and everyone is always welcome with open
arms. Besides the exceptional playing abilities, this group
also contains the extremely talented Golden Poms and Visual
Ensemble, who are magically stunning and add to the impact
of the winds, brass and percussion, putting the band into
a class of its own.
The band plays to over 30,000 people each
game at Hughes Stadium, home of Rams football. The exception
is the season opener against rival University of Colorado,
which is in front of 65,000 screaming fans at
Invesco Field at Mile High home to the Denver Broncos. The band also attends
the bowl game with the football team and entourage of cheerleaders
and fans, adding to the excitement and spirit of the game.
Past bowl performances include the Holiday Bowl, New Orleans
Bowl and Liberty Bowl, and Poinsettia Bowl.
Every show is visually enchanting and musically remarkable,
bringing the audience to their feet with amazement. The band
is constantly receiving praising letters and e-mails from
within the college as well as members of the community and
proud alumni. The band is regarded as a vital part of the
CSU experience, bringing people together through the powerful
language of music.
