Departmental M.A.

The Departmental MA is designed to prepare the student for continued advanced study in language, literature, and culture. Students who select this course of study may expect to broaden and deepen their command of language and literature with specific emphasis on the development of the critical skills necessary for advanced independent research. Students pursuing a Masters of Arts degree in Languages, Literatures and Cultures under the Departmental MA must earn a minimum of 32 semester credits and write a master's thesis, and pass both written and oral comprehensive examinations.

*L 500 may be replaced by a literature course on approval of the adviser.


**L 516 may be waived in cases of extensive experience or training.
