E 336 Goddess Religions
The course focuses on the theory of the development of religion that hypothesizes the worship of an ancient Goddess or Goddesses, developing into the worship of gods and goddesses around the Mediterranean, the rise of Christianity and the figure of Mary, and finally we end with the contemporary Women’s Spirituality Movement. While Hindu and African goddesses are mentioned, little time is spent on them.
