E326 Development of the English Language
A study of the historical development of English through its four periods: Old English, Middle English, Early Modern English, Modern English. Changes in at least three components of language are considered: pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary.The course is basically chronological, but may proceed by examining A) individual periods, as all components change, or B) individual components, as they change in each period.
