CO 402 Advanced Writing Online
Prerequisite: CO 302 or JT 372 or SP 346
CO 402 focuses on writing documents intended to be read online. It builds on CO 302 Writing Online by extending and deepening its discussion of the rhetorical contexts shaping texts written and read in electronic formats (e.g., hypertexts, sites on the World Wide Web, Internet discussion groups and forums, and electronic mail). The course assumes fluency in Web coding and a working familiarity with issues related to the design of online documents.
CO 402 extends work students completed in CO 302 or a related course (see the list of prerequisites) by considering additional issues related to the creation of online documents, including the use of technologies (such as scripting languages) that allow writers to create dynamic documents for individual readers, and further discussion of the role design plays on readers’ ability to understand and work with online texts.
