Internship Registration Info

The English Department encourages experiential education by offering up to three hours of elective credit for internships. Off-campus internships require advisor approval and consultation with the internship coordinator. Deanna Ludwin (334 Eddy) has contract forms and information about possible placements. A wide variety of experience is possible: work in a Public Defender's office, technical writing for engineering firms, summer newspaper reporting, public library research, writing and editing newsletters and brochures for non-profit agencies, designing and teaching summer enrichment classes for children, working at a public television station, etc. You may generate your own position in fields of interest as well as pursue established local, regional or national internships. Credit varies from one to three hours with about 40 hours for each credit hour. Your final grade (S or U) is assigned by Ms. Ludwin and your on-job supervisor.

The Department provides academic credit for authorized placements in businesses, institutions, and agencies.
