SUMMER TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS

The Chair of the English Department shall be guided by the following considerations in distributing up to three credits of teaching, research, or administration assignments for each faculty member interested in summer work: quality of teaching, scholarly productivity, professional experience, length of service at CSU, and in all cases by the responsibility for formulating the best possible summer session program both in terms of the courses offered and the faculty teaching or administering them.

In distributing summer assignments beyond three credits to any faculty, the Chair shall give priority to faculty in their years before retirement when summer employment will increase retirement benefits; second, to faculty who did not teach the previous summer; third, to faculty whose previous summer's assignment was light.

Pay rates are determined centrally by the University.
