| REDUCED TEACHING SCHEDULE
Any faculty member may apply for a reduced course
schedule for one of the following reasons:
- To work on a research project that is past
its preliminary stages and can be shown to be well conceived
and ready for some intensive work. Untenured faculty are
encouraged to inform the chair when a reduction in courses
would be especially beneficial in preparation for the tenure
decision.
- To work on a service project of significant
value to the department and university. The project should
be planned, including an explanation of its value and likelihood
of implementation.
- As a consequence of having directed a cumulative
total of nine students in E695 and/or E699, the results
of which can be shown to have required consistent direction.
Counting will begin with students whose official graduation
date is December 1990.
- As a consequence of having taught a four-credit
course six times.
- To develop a new teaching methodology and
materials. The project should be planned, including a timetable
of expectations for application or completion.
Each year, in October, the Chair will call for
requests for the next year and will grant a reduced teaching
semester to as many as funding and curricular needs will permit.
