EMERITUS FACULTY MEMBERS

Colorado State University Faculty-Staff Manual provisions on Emeritus faculty members are as follows:

Academic faculty members who have completed ten years or more of regular full-time or regular part-time service as faculty of Colorado State University shall be eligible at the time of their retirement for an emeritus title equivalent to their highest professional rank. Academic personnel who have held administrative positions (including department heads) for five years or more shall be eligible for the emeritus title for both positions (see Section D.6.3.2 for emeritus status of administrative professional staff). The procedures and conditions applying to emeritus status are:

  1. A member of the academic faculty may request emeritus status from the department at the time of retirement from the University.

    B. Privileges associated with this appointment are office or lab/office space provided to each emeritus faculty member who continues to do scholarly work; issuance of a permanent faculty identification card; listing in the University catalog and on the faculty mailing lists; full library privileges; and clerical support for scholarly activities.

It is the policy of the College and its academic departments to support the University policy within the context of available resources. Priority for office space, equipment, telephone, travel, supplies and clerical support is given to faculty and staff members currently active in the instructional program of the university, and then to emeritus faculty members who are active in scholarly activities, insofar as resources permit.
