James Work

Emeritus Professor. B.A., M.A., Colorado State University; Ph.D., University of New Mexico.

Specialist in Western American literature. Editor of the critical edition of Jack Schaefer's Shane; editor of prize-winning anthology, Prose and Poetry of the American West; author of prize-winning book of essays, Following Where the River Begins. Recent work includes a fiction anthology, Gunfight!, two western novels, Ride South to Purgatory and Ride West to Dawn as well as a mystery novel, The Tobermory Manuscript. His forthcoming work includes Ride to Banshee Canyon and A Title to Murder. Professor Work teaches various courses in Western American literature; won 1992 College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching Award. Former executive officer in Western Literature Association, Colorado Seminars in Literature, and Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association. Member of Western Writers of America.
