Professor Marvin is a mediaevalist with training in comparative Germanic philology and the pre-modern literatures of England, Germany, and Iceland. His book, Hunting Law and Ritual in Medieval English Literature (Boydell and Brewer, 2006), is the first diachronic study of the law, craft, and textual aesthetics of medieval English venery. In the English Department Dr. Marvin teaches courses on Chaucer, Arthurian romance, Germanic saga, Indo-European mythology, history of the English language, and Shakespeare. He also acts as Coordinator of Undergraduate Studies and Master of Revels to the English Club.
