Mary Crow Emeritus Professor
- B.A., English, College of Wooster; M.A., English Literature,
Indiana University; additional study in Creative Writing,
Writers Workshop of the University of Iowa.
Mary Crow, professor, taught creative writing,
all levels, contemporary poetry, Latin American and world
poetry, and women writers, and has published nine books,
four collections of her own poetry and five collections
of her
translations. Her most recent book of poems is I Have Tasted
the Apple. Vertical Poetry: Recent Poems of Roberto Juarroz
won a Colorado Book Award. Her most recent book of translations
is Engravings Torn from Insomnia Selected Poems by Olga
Orozco,
forthcoming 2002. Her other grants include a Poetry Fellowship
from the National Endowment for the Arts, awards from the
National Endowment for the Humanities, and Fulbright Creative
Writing and Research Awards. She has served on panels for
the NEA and the NEH. For five years, she was on the Board
of Directors of AWP. As Poet Laureate, she has developed
projects
to put poems in local buses, to train graduate students to
teach poetry in the schools and to bring writers from other
countries to campus.
