As the senior member of the political economy faculty, Ron Stanfield is a popular teacher and a productive scholar.  His interest in the historical, cultural and social determinants of economic behavior have given his students an especially broad view of the discipline.  His classes are both rigorous and participatory.  He is the author of 5 books and over 70 journal articles and book chapters.  His many honors and awards include the following:  Veblen-Commons Award, Assoc. for Evolutionary Economics (2005), Thomas Divine Award for Lifetime Contributions, Assoc. for Social Economics (2002), John H. Stern Distinguished Professor, College of Liberal Arts (1999), Nomura Foundation Plenary Speaker, Japan Assoc. for Evolutionary Economics (1998), President, Assoc. for Evolutionary Economics (1998), President, Assoc. for Institutional Thought (1995), President, Assoc. for Social Economics (1993), Colorado State University 's Oliver Pennock Distinguished Service Award (1989), Fellow of the International Institute of Social Economics, Hull, England (1979). Ron will be retiring soon, but we have no doubt that his scholarship on the critique of modern capitalism will continue with the wit and energy that has characterized it for so many years.

"My goal is never to present too little material in a class nor to ask of students anything less than the very best work of which they are capable. I endeavor never to patronize students but to treat them as fellow scholars who are driven as I am by a passion for ideas and their social consequences."
