Department of Exercise and Sport Science
Graduate
Program
The M.S. graduate program in exercise and sport science has two areas
of concentration. Students may concentrate in (1)
Exercise Science or (2) Wellness
Management. Students may also speialize in the Exercise
and Nutrition Interdisciplinary Program, which is offered in
conjunction with the Department of Food Science and Human
Nutrition, and requires an additional admission process.
Graduate Program Entry Requirements
- Earned Bachelor's Degree, minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Completion of Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
- Completion of prerequisite courses for specific options.
A list prerequisite courses for each concentration is available upon
request.
Application Deadlines: For Consideration for Teaching Assistantship
- Fall Semester: January 31st
- Spring Semester: September 30th
- Early completion of the application is encouraged!
Graduate Program Graduation Requirements
- Completion of a MINIMUM of 42 semester credit hours
- Minimum grade point average of 3.00
- Completion of program core course requirements
- Completion of a research thesis
Graduate Teaching Assistantships
The Department of Exercise and Sport Science supports
approximately 20-25 graduate teaching assistantships (GTA's),
approximately half of which are awarded each year. The 9-month
assistantship pays the student a monthly salary and covers both
in-state and out-of-state tuition. GTA's are
assigned to teach laboratory and/or activity classes.
