Mount Garfield in the Bookcliffs
North of Palisade Colorado
This photograph was taken by the Curtis E. Swift, Ph.D. in mid February 1996 near Interstate 70 just north of Palisade Colorado. The white streaks down the slopes are salt accumulations from Mancos deposits. Crystals of gypsum can be found several inches under the surface of these deposits.
