Heritage Arts
Do you like to learn about past? Have you ever wondered how your grandmother crocheted that scarf for you or embroidery the pillowcases? Have you looked at your mother's quilt and wonder how it was made? If you said yes to any of these questions, then this project is for you. Heritage Arts is defined as the practical skills passed down from proceeding generations that were developed to provide basic family needs, such as appeal, home furnishings or decorations. The Heritage Arts project is broken down into 9 different project areas: Crocheting, Knitting, Needle Arts (Decorative Stitching), Patchwork and Quilting, Rug Making, Spinning, Weaving, Ethnic Arts, and Macramé. Along with learning how to master these techniques, you will also investigate the history of the project area you have chosen and include this study in your record book. |
