National
Western Teacher Workshop
Agriculture
101
Dear Friends:
Focusing on our educational charter, the National Western Stock Show
is pleased to announce the addition of a teacher workshop, “Agriculture
101”, which is eligible for recertification credit, to our schedule
of events. A 15-hour class, the workshop takes place over two days
– November 10, 2007, and January 12, 2008 – and will be
held at the National Western Complex.
An exciting agricultural adventure, the workshop focuses on the many
facets of the agricultural industry and offers hands-on agricultural
experiences to attendees. Topics will include food safety, nutrition,
soil & crop sciences, agricultural sciences, water and renewable
energy, stewardship, teaching agriculture in the classroom and the
history and socio-economic impact of the National Western Stock Show.
Workshop attendees will also have the opportunity to tour behind-the-scenes
locations, such as National Western’s private art collection
and the Wall of Champions, throughout the National Western Complex.
Above all, teachers will learn the important impact the agricultural
industry plays in the everyday life of our society from Colorado’s
top agricultural experts. Sanctioned by Colorado State University,
attendees will hear from Colorado State University professors, agricultural
extension agents and international agriculture marketers.
Registration for the workshop is $40, and includes lunch both days.
Upon completion, teachers will receive 1 recertification credit. Registration
is available online or call (303) 637-8109.
