How Much Sun do Vegetable Crops Need?

If your garden spot is a mixture of some shade as well as full sun, you'll benefit by knowing which vegetables do best in either situation.

Leafy vegetables, such as lettuce and spinach, will tolerate the most shade.

Root vegetables, such as carrots, radishes, beets and parsnips, need a half day of sunshine.

Fruiting vegetables, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peas, beans and squash need full sun. Corn also benefits from full sun.
