Spider Mites on Houseplants |
If your houseplants look gray-green and have some kind of webbing on them, it is probably spider mites. Mites flourish under the dry household conditions common in the winter months. Try to remove mites by hosing the plants off in the shower or the kitchen sink. Repeat at least twice a week for a month or so. If this doesn't seem to work, try using an insecticidal soap. Generally, treatments need to be reapplied for two weeks to a month. Mites can indicate a drought-stressed plant, so make sure the plant is receiving adequate moisture, too.
