Let the condition of the grass and soil, not the number of days since watering, be your guide to lawn irrigation. Two signs that Kentucky bluegrass need watering: Footprints in the grass that don't spring back quickly and a grey-green, rather than a fresh green, color to the grass.
Water at night or early in the morning when there is little wind and when evaporation is less. Also, at this time of day, water pressure is higher.
