Switch Grass (Panicum virgatum) (17821 bytes)    Switch Grass (Panicum virgatum) is a member of the Poaceae family of ornamental grasses. It is hardy in zones 5-9 and requires little to no supplemental watering. Grows 4-6 feet, forming dense upright clumps. Blooms in fall, having open panicles of dark red to purple and shiny red seeds.
miscanthus,autumn light (13963 bytes) Maiden grass (miscanthus 'autumn light') Produces a zigzag plume segment. A robust grower with medium green foliage to 5/8 inches wide. Has a good yellowish fall color. Growth habit is arching. Inflorescence appear in mid September and are the darkest bronze of the Miscanthus. 'Autumn Light' is a very hardy specimen plant, hardy to zone 4.

Tumble grass (eragrostis tricodes) grows to a height of 2 feet. It is hardy to zone 5, grows in poor soil and is drought tolerant. Foliage is fine textured and the bloom in late summer appears as reddish purple clouds that fade to soft brown.
