Cell & Molecular Biology is an interdisciplinary degree granting program that involves nearly 80 faculty members from 11 departments who offer training leading to M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The program offers courses on core subjects, laboratory research techniques, ethical conduct of science, and grant writing; a graduate seminar where students present their research; and weekly seminars by CSU faculty and nationally prominent scientists.

The M.S. degree is usually completed in two years and the Ph.D. degree within five years. Current focus areas of research include: cancer biology, infectious diseases, metabolism, neuroscience, plant biology, regulation of gene expression, reproductive biology, and structural biology.
