Restart Chromosome Number... is one of several commands that allow the user to correct mistakes. This command allows users to remark individual chromosomes one at a time, without affecting information for other chromosomes that have been marked.

If, while marking, the user selects Restart Chromosome Number... before the end of the current chromosome is reached, the tracing and any data for the current chromosome are erased, and the user may begin again on the current chromosome.

'Resart' dialog box If there is no current chromosome, (i.e., after the end of a chromosome has been reached but before marking has begun for another one), the user is asked to select the chromosome to be restarted. The tracing of the selected chromosome is then erased, and the user may start again.

The current version of MM requires that this selection be made based on the number of the chromosome to be restarted. Chromosomes are numbered based on the order in which they were marked: for this reason, it is important to keep track of the order in which marking took place. One way this might be done is by adding text to indicate marking order.
