Twelve credits are to be taken from the courses listed below or from graduate level studio courses in the same areas, but these credits should not ordinarily be in the area of specialization or thesis. Work may be in one elected area or in several. Academic electives in art might be taken in lieu of studio courses.

Graduate students may register for 300 or 400 level courses at a graduate (500) level, after consulting with the instructor to ascertain the additional requirements expected for 500-level work. These classes may have prerequisite conditions. This policy does not apply to any classes which have been required to make up undergraduate deficiencies.
