Department of Art - MFA Drawing

Jonathan HaleStudent applicants in graduate drawing are expected to display the beginnings and potential for their own artistic idiom and philosophy. Graduate students are expected to be highly proficient with drawing methods, materials and techniques. At this level, drawing is open to mixed media and interdisciplinary approaches.

In their course of study, students will have access to all five drawing Professors, faculty from other disciplines, along with their choice of advisor and committee members.

Jonathan HaleThe successful graduate student will develop an in-depth body of drawings for an MFA qualifying exhibition. Additionally, three papers will be written; one from an historical perspective, one research oriented and, most importantly, the abstract to accompany the thesis exhibition.

The Graduate Drawing work space accommodates two students in two separate private studios each approximately 300 sq. ft. in size.
