
How to apply to the MFA
Program.
PLEASE NOTE: You must apply to CSU's Graduate School
(Step 1) and to the Art Department separately (Step 2). THERE ARE
TWO (2) APPLICATIONS (WITH DIFFERENT DEADLINES) TO SUBMIT. DEADLINES
FOR EACH APPLICATION ARE STATED BELOW.
Step 1 - SUBMIT TO GRADUATE SCHOOL
- Application - goes to the Graduate School and will be processed by the
Office of Admissions, but the decision is made by the department. APPLICATIONS ART ONLY ACCEPTED ONLINE - USE THE APPLICATION FORM LINK .
- DEPARTMENT CODE: ART80.
- Graduate Records
Examination (GRE) is not required.
- Application Fee - Attach a $50
nonrefundable application fee. Make
check payable to Colorado State
University. DO NOT SEND
CASH.

Deadlines For Graduate School
- General deadlines for the receipt of complete applications and
supporting documents are listed below. Note that individual
departments may have earlier deadlines for certain programs.
- Check below for department deadlines. Students who wish to be
considered for fellowships, assistantships, or other forms of merit
- or competency-based financial support may be subject to earlier
deadlines. See Funding

After You Apply

Your application will be forwarded to the academic department
to which you are applying.

Your application will be reviewed by the department once all
the required documents are received.

The academic department will recommend admission or denial to
the Graduate School.

The Graduate School will notify you of the decision.

To determine the status of your application, contact the Art
department.
The submission of any false information or fraudulent
documents in connection with the application process is grounds
for rejection of the application or dismissal from the Graduate
School regardless of the nature of other credentials.
Step 2 - SUBMIT TO ART DEPARTMENT
- Statement of purpose – See area
of interest application for specifics (area application below).
- Transcripts – Request that two official
transcripts from each college or university
attended be sent to the department to
which you are applying (Colorado State
University transcripts are not required).
- Letters of Recommendation: Three
letters of recommendation to be sent to the department to which
you are applying. Track II admissions require three letters of
recommendation that address the specific
impact of the applicant’s professional or
intellectual expertise.

lf you choose to apply in more than one area, send only one application
and one $50.00 check, but do send an area application/concentration
application form (Linked below) for each choice, and appropriate
slides as stated in the area/concentration application.
