Army ROTC Scholarships
Overview
The Army ROTC
scholarship program provides financial assistance for the education and
training of highly qualified and motivated young men and women who
desire to be commissioned as officers in the Army after graduation from
college. If you have questions about scholarships, call the Enrollment

Scholarships pay:
-
100% tuition and
mandatory fees
-
A $1200 per
academic year book allowance
-
A tax-free stipend
based on academic status ($300/month - freshman, $350/month -
sophomore, $450/month - junior, $500/month - senior)
-
For High School
scholarship winners, possible room and board assistance
Four and three year
scholarships are available to high school students. Two and three year
scholarships are available to college students.
General eligibility
requirements:
-
Be a United States
citizen
-
Be between the ages
of 17 and 29 (must apply for an age waiver if older than 29)
-
Possess a high
school diploma, or equivalent
-
Have a cumulative
GPA of 2.5 or higher
-
Have at least a 920
SAT or 19 ACT Score (990 SAT or 21 ACT for Nursing
Scholarships)
-
Be medically
qualified through DODMERB
-
Be able to pass the
Army Physical Fitness Test
Obligations of
scholarship recipients:
A total of 8 years of
military service upon college graduation which may be satisfied in any
of the following ways:
-
Serve 4 years on
Active Duty, plus 4 years on Reserve Duty (active Army Reserve
or Army National Guard or Inactive Ready
Reserve)
-
Serve more than 4
years on active duty plus whatever remains of the 8
year obligation on Reserve Forces Duty
-
Serve all 8 years
on Active Duty
-
Serve all 8 years
on Reserve Forces Duty (for individuals that receive a Guaranteed
Reserve Forces Duty scholarship or are assigned to the Army Reserve or
Army National Guard when commissioned)
Army
ROTC High School (4-Year or 3-Year) Scholarships
These scholarships
are for high school seniors (or individuals that will receive their GED)
that are planning to enter college as a freshman the fall following
their senior year in high school.
The scholarship pays:

Full tuition plus
mandatory fees
-
A $1200 per year
book allowance ($600 per semester)
-
A tax-free stipend
based on academic status during the academic year ($300 per month for
Freshmen, $350 per month for Sophomores, $450 for Juniors, and $500
for Seniors)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
High School Scholarships:

Be a US Citizen.

Be 17 by October of
the semester you are entering college and must not reach 31 years of
age before December 31st of the year you graduate from college and
receive your commission

Have a
minimum high school GPA of 2.5
-
Be a high school
graduate or possess an equivalent certificate by September of the year
you will enter college
-
Score a
minimum of 920 on the SAT or a 19 composite on the ACT (990
SAT or 21 ACT for Nursing Scholarships)
-
Have no moral or
personal conviction that will prevent you from:
-
Receive a waiver
for any arrest or civil conviction (if applicable)
Although medical
qualification is not required to be eligible to receive a scholarship
offer, medical qualification is required in order to
receive the scholarship benefits.
To receive the
scholarship benefits you must also agree to accept a commission and
serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army
National Guard, or U.S. Army Reserve) upon graduation and receipt of
your commission.
Army
ROTC Campus-Based and Basic Course Scholarships
Campus-based
scholarships:
-
Available for
current freshmen (3-1/2 year, 3-year, or 2-year scholarships),
sophomores and juniors with at least 4-semesters remaining to graduate
(2-1/2 year or 2-year scholarship), and seniors planning to attend
graduate school (2-year scholarship).

Full tuition and
mandatory fees

A $1200 per
academic year book allowance
-
A tax-free
stipend ($350/month for sophomores, $450/month for juniors, and
$500/month for seniors) for up to 10 months each academic year
Basic Course
Scholarships:
-
Basic Course
scholarships are 2-year scholarships and require attendance at the
Leader’s Training Course (LTC) the summer between the academic
sophomore and junior year. A conditional contract must be signed prior
to attending LTC signifying the individual is interested in a career
as an Army Officer, the contract will not become binding however,
until the individual returns to school for the junior year and takes
an oath from the Professor of Military Science.

Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) upon returning from LTC.

Guaranteed Reserve
Forces Duty (GRFD) and Dedicated Army National Guard (ARNG) Scholarships
The GRFD and
Dedicated ARNG Scholarships are 2-year scholarships available for
members of the Army Reserve (AR) and Army National Guard (ARNG) who
desire to commission in the Reserve Forces. Applicants must be members
of the USAR or ARNG and participate in the Simultaneous Membership
Program (SMP) as a cadet. Both scholarships are awarded on a competitive
basis. Students apply for this scholarship during the spring semester of
their sophomore year. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a
sophomore with 4 to 5 semesters remaining until graduation.

Green to Gold
If you are currently
on active duty and would like to commission as a Second Lieutenant
(2LT), one of these Green to Gold Programs may apply:

Active Duty Option
(Not a scholarship but the soldier is released from Active Duty to
complete their college degree. Must enter the program as an academic
junior and complete their degree program within 21 months. Individual
continues to receive full military pay and allowances while attending
final two years of college)

Nursing
Scholarships
This scholarship is
available to eligible Nursing students at the University of Northern
Colorado (a partnership college with Colorado State University for Army
ROTC). Scholarships can be for 4-Years, 3-1/2 years, 3-Years, 2-1/2
years, or 2-Years. The 2-1/2 Year and 2-Year scholarships may also
require attendance at the Leader’s Training Course at Fort Knox, KY, if
any of the freshman or sophomore Army ROTC classes were not taken.
The scholarship pays:

Non-Scholarship
Students can
participate in ROTC without a scholarship and will receive the ROTC
stipend benefits during their junior and senior year once contracted.
If a member of the
Army Reserve (USAR) or Army National Guard (ARNG), these students are
required to participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP),
which will entitle them to receive additional financial benefits through
the Army Reserve or Army National Guard while completing their degree
program as an Army ROTC cadet.
