Major Jon Mason is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and the Operations Flight Commander for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 90 at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado. He is responsible for the education and training of AS 300 cadets attending Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado.
Major Mason’s previous assignment was the Assistant Director of Operations (ADO), 30th Weather Squadron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. As the ADO he oversaw all squadron operational/technical training, evaluation & certification for launch, range, & air operations. As a Launch Weather Officer he led a 13-person Launch Weather Team in providing critical "Go" and "No-Go" launch calls for 21 missions and provided 24/7 watches, warnings, advisories, & forecasts on 99K-acre Western Range to protect 12K Airmen and $3B+ in assets.
Major Mason earned his commission from Officer Training School in 1999.
