JTC offers a Master of Science and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Communication and Technology. Students enrolled in the two-year M.S. program complete courses in communication research methods, communication theory, and a range of topics courses and seminars. Master's students can complete a research-based thesis or an approved research project. Ph.D. students complete advanced course work and seminars in communication theory, research methods, and technology-related topics as well as a cognate outside the department. Students also demonstrate their proficiency by completing comprehensive written qualifying exams and by conducting a rigorous independent research project presented and defended in a dissertation. The department also offers the health communication focus in CSU's Graduate Degree Program in Public Health, which awards the Master's of Public Health in collaboration with the Colorado School of Public Health.

Supplementary Programs & Certificates
Students who wish to supplement their JTC graduate program of study can pursue several different graduate certificates across campus. Most graduate certificates presume a background in the relevant area. Certificates are generally completed concurrently with JTC graduate work, and might require an extra semester or more of coursework to complete.
