Students in history pursue all kinds of careers. Some become teachers. Others attend graduate school, law school, or seminary. Many obtain employment in government, the military, the business world, and or in other endeavors seemingly unrelated to history.
Specialized career tracks include historic preservation and archives and records management. When the history department periodically polls former students, the returns indicate that they are doing everything under the sun. Moreover, whatever the choice of career, the vast majority found personal satisfaction and sound professional preparation in their experiences as history majors.
