Dortmund

Dortmund climbing rose (21187 bytes)

Dortmund is a vigorous climbing rose that tolerates both poor soil and shade. Canes grow 8 to 10 feet and the plant has a 6 foot spread. It has good disease resistance. Blooms are bright red with a white center and have a pleasant apple fragrance. They are single, flat flowers and are produced in clusters throughout the summer. Deadheading provides a longer season. Foliage is shiny, dark green and holly-like. Stems are thorny. A definite plus are the bright orange hips that add winter interest.
