It's time to...
Water trees, shrubs, lawn, and perennials every four to six weeks. Wait
for a day when the temperature is 40 degrees and the ground isn't frozen. Water each
setting for about 30 minutes.
Draw up vegetable garden plans. Check the catalogs and scan the seed
racks. Look for disease-resistant vegetable varieties. New veggie garden? Choose a site
that will get at least six hours of sun a day.
Cut back late summer blooming shrubs, such as blue mist spirea, Russian
sage, and butterfly bush, to three to six-inch stubs in late February or early March.
Start snapdragons indoors from seed in February. Press
these small seeds only lightly into the soil; they need light to germinate.
