Foliage consists of alternate, simple leaves, 2½ to 5 inches in length. The color is a deep bluish-green. Fall color is yellow when there is any, but most often leaves just turn to brown and are held on the tree well into winter. | |

Fruit is a small, elongated 1-inch acorn, borne singly and in clusters of up to five. | |

Bark is gray-brown with furrows and ridges. |
